Orion introduces its iDSL DSLAM
for ISP applications

Orion Telecom Networks Inc. has introduced its VCL-30 iDSL DSLAM access
solution for providing up to 15 iDSL (ISDN Digital Subscriber Leased Line) ports, each
port supporting data @ 128Kbps to subscribers. The product is aimed at providing high
speed internet access too subscribers.
To b used by ISPs and corporate customers, the solution transport synchronous data @ 128Kbps, upto a distance of 4 miles (5KM) on a
single twisted pair, which may be terminated at the customer premises on Orion's V.35,
iDSL modems, or Cisco's 802 / 804 10baseT, iDSL Routers.
Orion's iDSL solution is also compatible with
a host of other Customer Premises baseband modems from various other manufacturers.
The maximum transmission range, over which
128Kbps of data can be delivered using Orion's iDSL equipment is 4 miles (5KM) on a 26AWG
(0.4mm) twisted pair. Increased transmission distances may be attained by use of a higher
wire gauge pair. The transmission distances may also be doubled using standard
(off-the-shelf) ISDN repeaters.
At the ISP premises / POP site, the ISP / CO
(Central Office) side Orion's iDSL Access equipment multiplexes the 15, iDSL links
providing 15 leased lines to various customers @ 128Kbps each, to an E1 interface which
may be directly connected to the E1, VWIC (channelized E1) card of a Cisco Router.
Time-slot selection and management is available to assign the E1 time-slots to the various
active iDSL links.
Orion offers a wide range of telecom transmission solutions

Fiber Optic Transmission solutions, digital access cross connects, digital circuit
multiplication equipment and digital loop carrier equipment.
